About Us

Lucie Hughes - Owner

Lucie has been training professionally for five years. A television show called "K9 to 5" sparked her interest in working with and training dogs. After graduating from college she attended two different dog training schools - Tarheel Canine in 2018 and The Michael Ellis School for Dog Trainers in 2022. She has two dogs, Roo and Fira. She is actively training in PSA (protection sports association) with her shepherd, Fira. PSA is a sport that includes both obedience and protection work. She and Fira are currently training for their PSA1. She also competes with both dogs in barn hunt.

Roo - Co-owner

Titles Accomplished:

This job would not be possible without Roo! Rooie is a 7-year-old GSD/Pit mix and I've been lucky enough to spend the last 6 years with him as my best friend. He is the perfect boy to help start adding distraction for dogs in training. He is totally happy to sunbathe his way through lessons while helping dogs learn how to be neutral. He is the sweetest boy on the planet and absolutely loves people. His favorite activities include sunbathing, hunting for rats, eating snacks and getting pets! He has the ability to make himself at home in every environment and wants nothing more than to do whatever he wants, all the time.

Fira von Kubaner Haus - Chief Protection Officer

Titles Accomplished:

Fira, also known as Pigpen, is a 4-year-old working line GSD. She also gets put to work helping with clients. Being much higher energy, however, she comes out later in the process! Fira and I compete in a sport called PSA (protection sports association) which is a combination of obedience and bite work. Her favorite hobbies include bite work, hunting rats, eating, her ball, hiking, and swimming. She is my first working dog and has been everything I could possibly ask for. She's game for anything and everything and absolutely loves life.
